Bucharest Exhibition Opening – February 13, 2025

The official opening event of A Journey to the Center of the Earth was marked by a discussion at 6PM between Irina Petroviciu, an expert in natural dyes, Kristoffer Dolmen, a curator at Nordlandsmuseet in Bodø, and Anca Poterașu, gallery manager and curator, on the topic of textile arts in Sami culture and Maramureș, with an intervention in absentia from Florica Zaharia, textile conservation expert, who unfortunately could not attend.

The talk was followed at 7PM by guided tours of the exhibition held by Anca Poterașu, Kristoffer Dolmen, and Megan Dominescu. The attendance was greater than anticipated, the opening being one of the most popular events in the gallery’s recent history.

ARAC is a non-profit organization founded in June 2012, in order to produce and promote contemporary art in Romania and abroad. The initiative of the 58 Plantelor Residency belongs to Anca Poterasu, gallerist and ARAC President. The first edition of the Residency took place in 2015 and it was financed through a grant offered by Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and the Romanian Government.
